You’re at a birthday party and someone asks what you do for work. What’s your answer?

“I help companies avoid getting stuck in their own spreadsheets.”

If possible, I add: “We built a web platform, XLReporting, that helps organizations create better reports and forecasts. Less guesswork, more insight.”

Can you tell us about your career and how it shaped you as an entrepreneur?

I worked for years in the finance and IT world, in management roles at international companies. It was very educational and brought good results, but at some point I thought, “I don’t want to end up being someone who just sits in meetings all day.”

I wanted to build something again, not quietly fade into retirement. So, I started, with a small group of people, working on something I truly cared about: helping companies make better decisions.

Which events or people have had a big influence on your career?

The companies I worked for, and everyone I met there. Especially the moments when I saw how poorly many decisions were made due to a lack of good data. That really motivated me: there had to be a better way.

Have you always had an entrepreneurial mindset? What did you want to be when you were younger?

I’ve always been interested in numbers and automation. That passion never faded. I’ve always taken risks, taken on new challenges, and pushed boundaries. But I wouldn’t call myself a classic entrepreneur. I tend to focus more on the content and less on the commercial proposition.

What was the main reason you chose entrepreneurship?

I didn’t want to wait for someone else to execute my vision. I wanted to build something that truly helps companies, without unnecessary complexity or fluff.

What motivates you to work on XLReporting every day?

Every time a client says, “This makes our lives so much easier,” I’m reminded why I do this. Building something that has real impact is very fulfilling.

What’s the most rewarding part of your work?

Seeing the results: satisfied clients, better decisions, and fewer people struggling with unreliable spreadsheets and poor data.

What does success mean to you personally?

Success is waking up in the morning excited to work, and going to bed thinking “Today, I did something that truly mattered.”

What’s been your biggest challenge as an entrepreneur, and how did you overcome it?

The temptation to try to please everyone. Eventually, I learned that good clients value quality and clarity, not free extra work.

Have there been moments when you doubted yourself or your company? How did you handle them?

Of course. Every entrepreneur experiences those moments.

When that happens, I go for a long ride on my road bike. After a few hours in the mountains, I find clarity and peace of mind. Doubting is normal. Giving up is not an option.

What mistakes have you made, and what did you learn from them?

Believing for too long that giving more is always better. Sometimes you need to set clear boundaries, for yourself and for your clients. Quality should come before quantity.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work to relax and find inspiration?

Long rides on my road bike in the mountains. They teach you everything: planning, preparation, and accepting that things don’t always go your way, but you still have to keep going.

What do you hope to achieve with XLReporting in the coming years?

I hope that more companies realize good forecasting is not magic. I want XLReporting to be known globally as the platform that makes finance meaningful and enjoyable again.

Looking back on your career, what are you most proud of?

That I took the leap to build something new when others might have chosen comfort. That I didn’t give up, but created something I truly believe in.

What’s a common misconception people have about XLReporting?

That it’s just another tool. But XLReporting is not a standard package. It’s a flexible platform that adapts to your business, not the other way around.

What advice would you give to young entrepreneurs or people considering starting out?

Don’t wait until everything is perfect.

Start. Build. Make mistakes. Learn. Keep going.

And most importantly, believe in what you’re doing because eventually, others will too.
