How to use the Planner Overview

Budgeting and forecasting can be a challenge, which is why we've designed our forecast models to include a range of analysis features to better understand your income and expenses.

Below is a step-by-step guide on how to use the forecast module.

Models in the forecast process

  • Revenue Planner: this forecast model is designed to help you plan and manage your revenues, cost of goods, and the resulting gross margins. Using the zero-based budgeting method, you can create separate budgets for each year, company, and revenue type.
  • Staff Planner: this forecast model is designed to help you plan your salaries and wages for each year and company. Using the zero-based method, you can enter details for each employee. The costs will be distributed over the months in the year, based on the duration of employment.
  • Expense Planner: this forecast model is designed to help you plan your department expenses for each year and company. Using the zero-based method, you can enter details for each expense type by month. The forecast submissions can be delegated to each department.
  • Asset Planner: this forecast model is designed to help you plan your fixed assets and associated depreciation for each year and company. Using the zero-based method, you can enter details for each asset by month.
  • Cashflow Planner: this forecast model is designed to help you plan and manage your cash inflows and outflows, and therefore your future liquidity. It automatically uses all data from the other forecast models.

How to use the Planner Overview

You will find the Planner Overview in Essentials -> Forecast.

Select the year and company from the dropdown menus.

Click on the Run button to retrieve the latest version of your department budget.
